Giveaway Winner and Thank Yous!

First things first, I would like to congratulate Rae Lynne on winning the very first Knitting a Baby Giveaway!

Rae Lynne was the 12th to comment (taking out one comment of mine which I had previously deleted).  She was also the 11th and the 13th because she became a follower of the blog AND told her sister about it too!  Great work Rae Lynne.

Rae Lynne will be receiving a set of my Felted Teething Rings and a few other treats too!

We had about 20 entries for the giveaway and I got a bunch of new followers.  That's great news and makes me very happy.

We'll have more giveaways in the future, so if you didn't win this time, there will definitely be other opportunities.

Rae Lynne, if you're out there and following the blog, please contact me on Ravelry with your contact information.  This is a test!  (I'm just kidding, if I don't hear from you soon, I will contact you myself!)

I also wanted to take a minute to thank everyone who sent me their own labour stories.  Each story was very different, and I appreciated hearing from each of you.

I'm happy to say that my friend gave birth to her baby girl on Friday.  For those of you who are keeping track, she went into labour on Sunday.  Her baby was delivered by C-Section when it became clear that even with medication, she was not going to dialate.  Unfortunately, there were a lot of issues with the level of care she received.  She is still recovering, but both her and the baby are fine.

What I learned from everyones stories is that labour is labour.  It was named that for a reason right?  I don't expect it to be painless, or even necessarily quick.  I do expect hospital staff to listen to me and I know my husband will be a strong advocate for me.  I think we will go the midwife route as well, but of course, final decisions will be pending!

  1. Yay Rae Lynne!! Congratulations! Melissa, you're doing an awesome job with your blog, I look forward to reading each new post :-) I don't have any labour stories myself, but I do know that my cousin had a midwife and she gave birth in the hospital, but really liked having the midwife there as well.
