How to Gift a Sunflower Girl

I have finally finished Mary's birthday gift, a Sunflower Girl.  This from Twist (Spring 2009).  The Ravelry pattern is here.  I love this finished project, but it is a lot of work!

So I finished the girl and was a little stumped about how to wrap it.  There were a few issues:  I am also going to make Mary a quilt for her birthday, but she's going to get this much later, since I haven't even started it yet.  The Sunflower girl is great, but I didn't feel like I could give Mary just the doll on such a special day.  I know gifts shouldn't be about money spent, but if I were to buy a gift, I would spend much more than this doll cost.

Anyways, I thought the doll would look pretty sad in a box and  wanted to get Mary some toys to go along with her too.  I found some buckets and garden toys at the grocery store yesterday (for about $10) and poof, I have a fully themed (and fun to unwrap) gift, with packaging and all.

Here it is:

I was thinking of using tissue paper as the dirt (right now that is unfinished fabric) but maybe if I finish the edges of the fabric Mary can continue to plant the doll in the bucket.  What do you guys think?

I'm so happy how this all came together.  I like the doll alot, but by "planting" her and including a few more toys I think this gift really becomes a show stopper.

I hope it makes Mary laugh, that's the most important thing!

Here is another shot of the doll, posing for the camera of course!
