Startitis

I have a small case of Startitis.  I can't stop starting new projects.  I eventually abandon them, but not for too long.  I am bouncing around between 5 projects right now.  Two are quite complicated, 3 are quite simple.  In the end it works out okay.

I am enjoying doing some projects for me lately. It has been nice.  I do have some FOs to share, here we go:

I recently finished a small baby set. This is to fit a small newborn, so I know that it may never get worn.  However, I'm a small girl, so I am guessing I'll have a small baby.  I know a lot of people who have come home from the hospital with a 6lb baby and no clothes for the baby to wear.  This way, at least I'll be prepared.

The cardigan is the recently released Bitty Cabled Cardigan.  It took me about a day to knit up.  I used Malabrigo Worsted in Lettuce.  It was my first real projet using Malabrigo.  It is squishy and yummy.  Since this sweater will be outgrown quickly, I'm not too worried about pilling, etc.  It will be a special sweater that won't be worn a whole lot.

The sweater is the small newborn size and used just 60 grams of the Malabrigo.  What an affordable little hand knit sweater!  You could likely make a hat and a tiny sweater out of just one skein!  More details on my sweater can be found here.

I designed the hat myself, using a few patterns I've seen out there.

It was a quick knit too.  You can find my details here.  I used felted balls for the peas.  I love the little pea pod.

I have finished one baby leg warmer for this set.  I feel like it's a little too wide.  I can wear it on my own wrist (which is quite skinny).  I'll likely finish the other at some point, even if they never fit a baby, they'll be cute wrist warmers.

I also finished a Cadence Hat.  This is a great knit.  It's so cute.  I want to make more in lots of colours.  It went so quickly.  I really love the stranded pattern.  I can't say enough great things about this pattern.  Oh wait, did I mention that it's free?  Check out the pattern info here.

Finally, I finished a new Pumpkin hat for 1 year old Mary.

Here is how she looked in her Pumpkin hat last year:

She was just a few months old here and couldn't sit up yet.  Everyone love this hat though, I went on to make several more for friends.

I basically used this pattern by labpugglechiHere are my Ravelry Details.  The curlies are my own idea.  I include details on how to make them in my ravelry project page. I also added the ribbing detail, I think that is from Susan B. Anderson's Little Pumpkin hat pattern.

This year I wanted a more grown up look for Mary.  I chose the Marina Hayes Pumpkin Hat (free on Ravelry!).  It has such a different look.  I love the way it turned out, even if it is a tiny bit big on Mary right now.

All the details for this project are available here.

What have you been up to lately?

  1. Oh my goodness, I have the worst startitis right now. The pea pod on that hat is so cute, I think it totally makes the outfit.
