Lots of Updates

It's been forever since I've written.  Motherhood sure is time consuming.  Up until very recently Sylvie was awake with us until nearly 10pm every night.  We always tried to follow her cues (at least to a point) and just put her to bed when she was ready.  She was sleeping until 10am every day, and I can't really say I minded that schedule.

The past few nights there has been a definite shift though.  The time change moved her bedtime to 9pm, and more recently, SHE has moved her bedtime to 8pm or earlier.  She is getting up earlier too, around 8am or slightly later.  Again, I just follow her cues.

A few weeks ago, when I was talking to my Mother, I mentioned how active Sylvie has become, and that I was having a hard time entertaining her all day.  My Mother and I have very different views on childrearing.  She was telling me to let Sylvie cry when she was only a few weeks old.  Obviously, I didn't listen.  That's not our style, it never will be.  Anyways, my Mother said that "it wasn't my job to entertain Sylvie all day".  I couldn't help but respond with "Really?  What is my job than?".  I am blessed to live in a country that allows for me to take an entire year off of work to be with my baby.  I consider it my job to tend to her (of course I love it).  I want to see her thrive, and right now, playing is how she learns and develops.  I take my job very seriously.

I'm not great at it, I still have a lot to learn.  I should sing more than I do, speak french more than I do, and talk more than I do.  But I am trying, and I'll continue to try.  That's all we can expect right? Lots of trying.

Sylvie will be 4 months old next week and our house is filled with  lots of baby babble, many smiles and even some giggles.  We haven't heard many full out laughs yet, but they are close.  Sylvie isn't rolling quite yet, but I know she will be soon.

We are still breastfeeding, baby wearing, and cloth diapering.  We attend Baby and Me Yoga  and Baby Massage every week and just signed up for a Baby Sensory class too.  I am exploring other ways to teach her, through montessori methods, baby signing and more.  I need to look into baby led weaning as I think it will be our food introduction method of choice.

I want to get back into blogging, and if Sylvie continues with this current sleep schedule, it just might be possible.  Thanks for hanging in there (if you are still there).  I still have lots to share!
